Citizenship Drive on 9.13th Print E-mail

On Saturday, September 13th the Center for Pan Asian Community Services and the Georgia Asian Pacific Bar Association will host a free citizenship drive, with lawyers present to help aspiring citizens on filling out their citizenship applications for free.

MAG Hosts First Malaysia Fest Print E-mail

Celebrating the 1st Malaysia Fest in Georgia, September 6th, 2008 at the Duluth festival center

 

 

 Atlanta, Georgia, USA – The Malaysian Association of Georgia (MAG) announces its first Malaysia Fest, celebrating Malaysian culture and Atlanta’s diversity in the Asian community. The organizers hopes this free event open to the public will bring people of all ages and background to experience a festival of family fun, food, shopping, and adventure of the senses. The Saturday event is from 11 am to 5pm, and held at the Duluth Festival Center in downtown Duluth, GA. The Duluth Festival Center is a beautiful, spacious outdoor facility with free ample parking provides a great location for the festival. Organizers are predicting about 400-500 people to visit the event. The festival will be showcasing Malaysian and other Asian cuisines from restaurants around the Atlanta metro area, and an Asian Market for a unique shopping experience. The Malaysian Association of Georgia’s dance troupe will be unveiling some new performances to provide an insight to the Malaysian culture that is diverse in itself. Silat Seni Gayong a Malay art of self-defense, a fighting art, and the art of stopping wars will also be featured amongst other performances. This event is also a celebration of Malaysia’s independence day, which falls on August 31st

Volunteers Needed for Voter Registration Drives Print E-mail

On August 9th, the GAAPICC Voting Subcommittee will be hosting a Voter 101 community training for individuals interested in volunteering for voter registration drives. The subcommitte's goals are to increase the number of Asian American voters in the state of Georgia.

When: Volunteer Training on August 9th, 10:00am-11:30am, Breakfast and refreshments provided

Who: Volunteers will need to be citizens

The Unheard Story: Asian American History in Georgia Print E-mail

The Georgia Asian Pacific Islander Community Coalition (GAAPICC) and the Center for Pan Asian Community Services (CPACS)are hosting an important presentation on Thursday, August 14th: "The Unheard Story: Asian American History in Georgia" by Dr. Jung Ha Kim, GSU.

This event is open to the public, but RSVP's are required.

  • From MARTA: Take NE train to Doraville stop. Walk towards New Peachtree Road

and Park Ave. The Center is across the street from the MARTA Station.

  • From South Georgia: Head North on I-85, Take Exit 95, the I-285 exit

(spaghetti junction), Stay towards the left, Head toward I-285 West, Exit on

Buford Highway. Left on Buford Highway, Right onto Park Avenue (the second

light on the right). CPACS is on the left next to the Doraville Police Station

  • From North Georgia: Head North on I-85, Take Exit 95, the I-285 exit
