GAAPICC receives APIAHF Health Through Action Grant. GAAPICC, in partnership with the Center for Pan Asian Community Services, was 1out of 8 organizations in the country to be awarded.

GAAPICC will receive $150,000 for the next four years to help accomplish the vision of eradicating cancer disparities in the AA&NHPI community, and to remove barriers to health access.

GAAPICC completed the data collection of the first and most comprehensive community needs assessment of Atlanta’s Asian Americans. Information was gathered in 12 different API communities through 11 focus groups and 2 community surveys.

GAAPICC is chosen as one of five API groups in the nation to celebrate Recovery Month in collaboration with the National Asian Pacific American Families Against Substance Abuse (NAPAFASA). GAAPICC joins the Hong Kong Dragon Boat Race with the theme of ROW (Recovering Ourselves to Win)!

GAAPICC convenes a strategic planning retreat at Simpsonwoods. At the meeting, attendees learned “best practices” in coalition efforts/ activities from Rod Lew and continued to work on the strategic plan.

GAAPICC receives an invitation from the Asian Pacific Islander American Health Forum (APIAHF) to submit full proposal for a 3 year grant. Through this funding, the Coalition intends to strengthen partnerships within Atlanta’s API diverse communities and to foster collaborative approaches to improve the overall health of APIs in Georgia.

Focus Group data is presented to Coalition by Emory University Rollins School of Public Health student. Coalition used the data presented to finalize three priority issues.
